About you and this role:
As a Technical Service & Development Scientist at Wiesbaden, Germany, you will leverage your technical expertise to address customer needs by leading the development of new products and providing support on the use, handling, and management of Dow products.
In this role, you will require specialized, in-depth knowledge and advanced expertise in a materials – or chemistry related discipline. You will need to analyze and identify internal and external technical challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services. You should be able to communicate difficult concepts to others and persuade them to adopt a different point of view.
It is your responsibility to use sophisticated analytical thought and judgment to identify innovative solutions. You will need to lead others to solve complex problems and potentially lead cross-functional project teams with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Your performance will impact business direction through the development of new products or services.
Responsibilities:
- Identify development projects, set timelines, and manage the product portfolio to meet business needs while incorporating external trends to influence the portfolio
- Align with business objectives by meeting with customers and interacting with various internal functions
- Provide experimental data to demonstrate differentiated technical solutions and effectively articulate synergies between technologies to maximize value
- Create a vision and multigenerational technology plan for the relevant business and/or technical capability
- Understand the full range of manufacturers/competitors and their products and technologies in adjacent segments
- Provide peer leadership and mentoring across multiple project areas, coaching others in identifying opportunities and articulating the value of Dow technologies in different applications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor\’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science or a science-related field is required
- A Master\’s degree or PhD is preferred
- Proficiency in English and basic communication skills in German is a plus
Your Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent Project Management skills & experience in Laboratory research
- Experience with Six Sigma tools and methodologies is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in experimental, computational, and theoretical methods
- Experience in silicone elastomer technologies is a plus
Additional Notes:
- Relocation/Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Travel to customers, conferences, trade shows, etc. is expected.
