We are currently recruiting for a Lead Buyer to oversee the procurement of construction services for a key client within the services sector, based in Cologne. This senior role is responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commercial mindset, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities: Lead the end-to-end procurement process for construction services, from market analysis and supplier engagement to contract award and performance management. Develop and execute category strategies that drive cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation. Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external suppliers on all construction-related procurement matters. Manage supplier performance through KPIs, regular reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with internal policies, EU procurement regulations, and sustainability objectives. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior buyers and contribute to the development of procurement best practices. Support commercial negotiations and contract drafting in collaboration with legal and project teams. Requirements: Extensive experience in strategic procurement, ideally within the construction or infrastructure sectors. Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Fluent in English; proficiency in German is highly advantageous. Degree-qualified in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline. Familiarity with public sector procurement frameworks and construction contract models (e.g. FIDIC, NEC).
