Our client is a globally recognised industrial machinery manufacturer known for engineering excellence, innovation, and high-quality products.

As part of its continued growth, the company is looking to appoint a Technical Buyer to support the procurement of critical mechanical, electrical, and engineered components used within its manufacturing operations.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious procurement professional to work closely with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Quality teams while playing a key role in ensuring the reliable supply of technical components and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure technical components, assemblies, and production materials required for manufacturing operations.
  • Manage supplier relationships and act as the primary procurement contact for assigned commodities.
  • Conduct RFQs, supplier evaluations, cost analyses, and commercial negotiations.
  • Support supplier selection and onboarding processes in collaboration with Engineering and Quality teams.
  • Monitor supplier performance relating to cost, quality, delivery, and service levels.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising technical requirements or product quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Engineering on new product introductions and engineering changes.
  • Manage purchase orders, contract negotiations, and supplier agreements.
  • Support inventory optimisation and ensure material availability to meet production requirements.
  • Contribute to supplier risk management and supply chain resilience initiatives.
  • Analyse market trends, raw material developments, and supplier capabilities to support purchasing strategy.
  • Candidate Profile
  • Degree or apprenticeship qualification in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven purchasing or procurement experience within an industrial manufacturing, machinery, automotive, or engineering environment.
  • Experience sourcing technical products such as machined parts, castings, fabricated components, motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical components, or assemblies.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineering and production stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with strong commercial awareness.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar.
  • Native or fluent German language skills are essential.
  • Strong English language skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to suppliers and manufacturing sites.
