As an Analyst in IP Intelligence, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding dsm-firmenich’s intellectual property by providing strategic patent research in chemistry and related fields. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive patent searches and providing competitive IP intelligence and benchmarking as well as other IP due diligence and strategic insights to support innovation, business and intellectual property strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patent searches using patent databases and tools known in the field.
- Analyze patent landscapes to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Prepare detailed reports and summaries of search results.
- Collaborate with IP Attorneys and R&D stakeholders to support patent filing and prosecution, as well as with IP Attorneys and business stakeholders to support strategic IP initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and tools related to patent searching.
- Utilize AI-related tools to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of patent searches and analysis.
You bring:
- At least a Bachelor’s (BSc) degree in Chemistry, or equivalent Swiss qualifications (e.g., ETH Zurich, EPFL). A Master’s (MSc) degree or PhD is preferred.
- Basic understanding of IUPAC nomenclature, with a desire to deepen that understanding.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Patent Searcher/Analyst in the field of Chemistry, with specific experience in patent landscaping and competitive analysis.
- Proficiency in essential patent searching tools (e.g., PatBase, STN, Derwent, etc.).
- Experience with AI-related tools in the patent search/analysis field is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
