As our Manager, Regulatory Affairs – Taste within our Health, Nutrition & Care (HNC) unit of dsm-firmenich, you will be part of a cross-functional team of around 16 employees, based in Kaiseraugst or Geneva, Switzerland or from our other European sites in Germany, France.

The activities linked to the position are highly complex due to the dynamics of the global market and changing regulatory environments.

Your responsibility will encompass the integration of the Marketing and Sales plans into your regulatory strategy program for the flavors portfolio of the HNC business unit segments globally and with a particular focus on the EMEA region.

You will be part of a highly professional and motivated team.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Accountable for regulatory compliance management of flavors for the HNC business unit (all segments, food and pharma) globally with a specific focus on the EMEA region.
  • Act as global Point of Contact (gPOC) for driving the pharma flavors segment, collaborate with taste experts in all regions to consolidate global strategies. Manage, coordinate and support the pharma submissions and customer requests between global and regions/countries.
  • Keep current on regulatory policies and procedures for the flavor industry, maintaining constant awareness of impending changes in local legislation that may have notable impact on the use of flavors/fragrances in the Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical portfolio as well as overall flavor technologies.
  • Drive efficiencies and look to continuously improve upon ways of working and best in class delivery of services to our customers.
  • Prepare regulatory documentation to respond to customer requests. Provide EMEA regional support on product submissions relating to the compliance of dsm-firmenich flavors and excipients. Maintain expertise in in-house data management system, and determine whether the products meet all legal, industry, customer and company requirements.
  • Support for global standard product document creation, update and maintenance.
  • Represent dsm-firmenich at industry organizations and associations, by involvement with e.g. FEMA, IFAC, JECFA or any other groups as necessary/assigned.

You bring:

  • University degree in chemistry or natural sciences life sciences, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs and/or Quality Management; background within flavor and/or excipient industry.
  • Experienced/thorough understanding of flavors use in food/food supplement industry as well as ideally in pharma industry with previous customer-facing exposure are assets.
  • Experienced/skilled in use of related regulatory IT platforms & applications.
  • Strong persuasive personality, but able to balance and compromise different opinions.
  • Strategic and solution-thinking skills.
  • Precise working style, persistence in pursuing objectives.
  • Open-minded, good team working and solution-thinking skills; cross-functional collaboration skills are a must.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; German, French and any other language an asset.
  • Risk assessment mindset – able to assess, manage, communicate risks to cross functional team and senior management.
