Lead Data Engineer (f/m/d) Data & AI - Expert Services

Job Description:

What you are responsible for

• You serve as the primary point of contact for the leadership team, mentor other team members, and cultivate a culture of continuous learning.
• You provide support for projects and initiatives, especially during the initial setup phase, collaborating with the team to develop suitable architecture, estimate efforts, and assign available Data Engineers.
• You lead Data & AI projects closely with internal clients, ensuring high quality and stability through agile processes, peer code reviews, and increasing efficiency by implementing reusable data models, architecture templates, and shippable data products.
• You take ownership of technical evaluations of new candidates during the hiring process.
• You stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data architecture and engineering, evaluating and recommending new tools and methodologies to enhance data management and analysis capabilities.

What you are good at

• Having 5+ years of professional experience in data architecture or engineering, leading colleagues either functionally or disciplinarily, with a degree or PhD in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent work experience. A love for mathematics and statistics is also valued.
• Extensive knowledge of Azure, AWS, and GCP cloud environments, architecture best practices, and tools relevant for machine learning/AI use cases, along with hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks like Terraform or ARM templates.
• Proven experience with ETL processes, data extraction, transformation, and loading using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, or Azure Synapse Analytics, and familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Azure ML, etc., including ML interpretability, and excellent programming skills in Python & SQL.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable to varying audiences, fluent in English and German.
• Knowledge about the energy industry is a plus.
