About The Team and The Role

The Search Ranking and Monetization Team is the biggest contributor to eBay’s advertising program and drives a significant portion of revenue. What You Will Accomplish

• Drive the search monetization technical vision by incorporating and developing software engineering processes and standards to enhance eBay’s buying experience.
• Collaborate with scientists and product managers to deploy complex yet scalable core algorithmic logic.
• Create robust data pipelines and real‑time monitoring and optimization algorithms.

What You Will Bring

• 4+ years of software design and development experience, solid foundation in computer science with strong proficiencies in data structures, functional programming, algorithms, OOP, and software design.
• Experience designing and operating big‑data processing pipelines such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, and ETL.
• 3+ years of software development experience building large‑scale web services and backend applications using Java, C++, Scala, and related technologies.
• Background or interest in mathematics or machine learning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent professional experience, with 5+ years of experience.
• Master’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent professional experience, with 3+ years of experience.
