Position

The Faculty of Science at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a W3-Professorship in Experimental Plant Biochemistry (m/f/d) at the Department of Biochemistry & Pharmacy affiliated to the Center for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP) Tübingen 1st of October 2027

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative colleague who is an internationally recognized expert in experimental plant biochemistry. The successful candidate is expected to carry out an independent, biochemistry-focused research program which has to be linked functionally to one or more of the following fields: plant cell biology, development, physiology and/or plant-microbe interaction.

The successful candidate will be expected to interact with other research groups at the ZMBP and the Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry (IFIB), to be actively involved in the further development of the research areas of Plant Science and Biochemistry, and to take on responsibilities in teaching plant biochemistry. Interaction with other groups within the University of Tübingen’s Faculty of Science is also encouraged. This includes active contribution to established and planned plant-centered research consortia such as CRCs (e.g. CRC/TRR 356 “PlantMicrobe”) and/or the excellence cluster GreenRobust as well as potential interaction with other Tübingen-based clusters such as CMFI and TERRA. Further information about the ZMBP, including a link to the IFIB, can be found at www.zmbp.uni-tuebingen.de.

The position has a teaching load of nine hours per week during the semester.

The successful candidate will benefit from the institutions’ outstanding centralized service units including administration, plant transformation, cytometry/FACS, greenhouses, analytics, imaging, spectromicroscopy, cryoEM and IT support.

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree as well as postdoctoral qualifications and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship.

The University of Tübingen is committed to equity and diversity and actively promotes equal opportunities. Female academics, in particular, are explicitly invited to apply, as are applicants from outside Germany. Applications from equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.
