Our client is a prestigious luxury hotel located in the heart of Geneva, renowned for its exceptional service, elegance, and commitment to excellence. As part of an ambitious renovation project aimed at enhancing its heritage while redefining contemporary luxury standards, the hotel is entering an exciting new chapter.
They are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sales to lead and develop the Commercial and Groups & Events functions, with a strong focus on international markets, revenue generation, and commercial performance.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the Director of Sales will play a key operational and strategic role in implementing the hotel's commercial strategy, developing key markets, leading sales teams, and maximizing revenue across Corporate, Leisure, and MICE segments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial action plans across Corporate, Leisure, and MICE segments in line with the overall commercial strategy.
- Oversee the full Groups & Events activity, from initial enquiry through to operational delivery.
- Lead, manage, motivate, and develop the Sales and Groups & Events teams, fostering a strong culture of performance, innovation, and service excellence.
- Work closely with Revenue Management and Reservations to implement pricing strategies, optimize client mix, and maximize RevPAR.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including MICE agencies, strategic corporate clients, and luxury tour operators.
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities across key international markets.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to develop innovative prospecting initiatives aligned with the hotel's luxury positioning.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators, sales volumes, conversion rates, and event performance, adjusting commercial strategies and actions accordingly.
- Maintain an active market and competitive intelligence approach to identify emerging trends and new business opportunities within the luxury hospitality sector.
- Represent the hotel at international sales events, trade shows, client meetings, and networking opportunities.
- Manage and develop business relationships across Europe, North America, South America, and Asia, with international travel required according to the annual commercial plan.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of proven experience in a similar position, such as Director of Sales, Senior Sales Manager, or Sales Manager.
- Mandatory experience within luxury hospitality, luxury hotels, or prestigious establishments.
- Proven leadership experience managing, structuring, and developing multidisciplinary Sales and Events teams.
- Strong results-oriented mindset with excellent B2B negotiation and business development skills.
- Strong understanding of hotel performance indicators and commercial KPIs, including RevPAR and event conversion rates.
- Excellent knowledge of international luxury markets and established networks within the MICE and Corporate sectors.
- Strong existing relationships with MICE agencies, corporate accounts, luxury travel operators, and other relevant industry partners.
- Fluent in French and English; a third language would be a strong advantage.
- Excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, rigorous, commercially driven, and able to operate effectively in a demanding luxury hospitality environment.
- High attention to detail and a strong understanding of the standards expected within a luxury hotel environment.
