Job Description

In order to fill a four‑year fixed‑term position in full time (39. 83 hours/week = 100%) at the earliest possible date, we are looking for one Postdoctoral Researcher in Biopsychology (m/f/x). Our group investigates the neural basis of cognition and behavior using pigeons as a model system. We combine advanced behavioral, anatomical, and neuroimaging approaches to study the neural basis of cognition across multiple levels of analysis.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative team with access to excellent infrastructure, including the university’s new state‑of‑the‑art interdisciplinary research building THINK, multiple externally funded research projects, and a strong international research network.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead innovative research projects in cognitive neuroscience.
• Coordinate experimental activities and support PhD researchers within the team.
• Contribute to ongoing externally funded projects.
• Publish in visible international journals and present findings at international conferences.

Qualifications

• Completed PhD in neuroscience, psychology, biology, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated excellent research achievements in at least one of the following areas:
  • Neuroanatomical analysis
  • fMRI / neuroimaging methods
  • Advanced behavioral experimentation and analysis

The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV‑L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV‑L. If the position is funded by third‑party funds, the employee has no teaching obligation. Interviews can be conducted via video call. The place of work is Ruhr University Bochum. The campus languages are German and English. Competence in at least one of the two languages and the willingness to learn the other are a prerequisite. RUB provides free language courses for employees.
