About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 09 The Role: Fields Researcher at S&P Global Commodities Insights within Upstream, and focused on Africa. The role includes tracking, reporting, and analyzing exploration and production activity in Africa. This post, requires that the colleague delivers trusted data and market intelligence related to oil and gas fields. Generally speaking the successful candidate will have a earth science or engineering background. Responsibilities: Gathering and maintaining accurate geological data for assigned oil and gas fields and prospects in Africa. Initiating and running data projects on fields. Supporting the regional country managers by monitoring data and checking for data consistency. Supporting and providing data for monthly and annual production, and reserves with the Central Data Team Contributing to written articles and country syntheses for publication in third-party industry magazines. Contributing to oral presentations and technical posters for industry exhibitions and conferences in Africa. What We\’re Looking For: Education in an Earth Science or related Engineering to degree level, with geological knowledge (knowledge and experience of oil exploration activity and field development is desirable). Analytical skills, ability to see and understand emerging trends in data set. Predisposition to problem solving. Knowledge of databases and dashboards (Excel, Power BI) is an advantage. Ability to priorities work and to respect deadlines. Good team player but also capable of working well individually. Analytical thinker and enjoy helping clients make informed decisions.
