NEXUS Personalized Health
is the technology platform for personalized health at
ETH Zurich . Since 2015, NEXUS has enabled and accelerated biomedical research by providing scientific expertise and tailored services in clinical bioinformatics, software engineering, biostatistics, high-throughput screening, and data management. Working at the interface between research and clinical application, NEXUS collaborates with researchers from ETH Zurich, hospitals, academia, and industry to develop innovative solutions that advance personalized medicine.
Project background NEXUS supports two cutting‑edge biomedical research projects that rely on robust and secure research data management. Data and metadata are collected from multiple laboratories, stored on the highly secure LeoMed platform, and consolidated within a LabKey installation to provide researchers with high‑quality, well‑organized datasets.
To cover a maternity leave, we are looking for a Data Manager for a fixed‑term appointment of six months. In this role, you will support the day‑to‑day data management activities of ongoing research projects, ensuring data quality, consistency, and compliance while working closely with researchers.
This is a fixed‑term position for 6 months, from September 2026 to February 2027.
Responsibilities
Collect, curate and organise research data and metadata from multiple laboratories.
Ensure data completeness, consistency and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain and update metadata within LabKey and related systems.
Write and maintain scripts (e.g. in Python or Bash) to parse, transform and validate research data.
Support data synchronization and secure storage on LeoMed.
Assist researchers with data management questions and documentation.
Help implement data governance and FAIR data principles within research projects.
Document data workflows, standards and project procedures.
Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to improve data management processes.
Qualifications
MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Life Sciences or a related field.
Experience working with biomedical or scientific research data.
Good scripting skills (preferably Python; Bash or similar languages are also welcome) for parsing, transforming and validating data.
Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
Familiarity with research data management concepts and metadata.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Very good written and spoken English.
Nice to have
Experience with LeoMed or other secure computing environments.
Experience using LabKey or similar laboratory information/data management systems.
Knowledge of FAIR data principles.
Experience working in collaborative biomedical research projects.
