We are looking for a Head of Engineering (m/f/d) as soon as possible.
Reporting to the Site Head, the Head of Engineering is responsible for the technical and strategic leadership of the Engineering Function at the Site. You will lead, coach, and develop the engineering team to excel in line with Elanco Engineering and Manufacturing principles. This is a critical role on the Site Leadership Team, who collectively set and drive the mission for the Site. In addition, the role is a member of the Global Elanco Technical Operations Leadership Team, who set and drive the global technical strategy for Elanco Manufacturing. The position offers an excellent opportunity for you to lead the Engineering function at a Site and influence the global strategy at a leading Animal Health Company. As well as a critical role on the Site Leadership Team, the Director is accountable for all aspects of engineering at the Site – Cuxhaven is a vaccine site, with a viral and bacterial production.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- Leadership and performance management for the Site Engineering team (including maintenance, reliability, process engineers, process automation engineers and capital project managers)
- Developing the long-term strategy for the engineering function and a strategic investment plan for the Site facilities
- Development of technical talent and leaders for Engineering and other Manufacturing functions across Elanco
Engineering Team Accountability
- Ensuring all the Site assets are qualified, maintained and recapitalized to ensure compliance with Elanco standards & capability
- Support to manufacturing operations to achieve production goals in a manner that meets health, safety, environmental and quality expectations
- Driving continuous improvement of assets to improve overall equipment effectiveness and optimize resources
- Planning and execution of capital investments in an effective and efficient way
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Several years experience of Engineering Team Leadership in the areas of maintenance, reliability, process engineering support or capital planning and delivery
- Strong experience in EMA (EU GMP), Animal Health, Pharmaceutical or Biotech manufacturing environment
- Fluent in English and German to enable effective communication skills in multi-cultural setting
- Leading an engineering team and technical agenda to achieve quantifiable successes with optimized resources
- Coaching and developing individuals and teams to improve technical capability or delivery
- Appropriate technical depth, curiosity and decision making in ambiguous situations or whilst under pressure
- Demonstrated communication and influence to gain support and confidence in a technical agenda
- Organizational influence and collaboration to leverage and drive a broader improvement agenda at both the site and within the global engineering function
- Bachelor\’s degree of Engineering or higher
Other Information:
- Site based position
- Monday through Friday work schedule with situations that may arise where off-schedule work, both on site and off site may be required
- Domestic and international travel required on a periodic basis to visit manufacturing sites and for significant business initiatives
