Elements Green is a UK-based investor, developer and operator of renewable energy and battery storage projects. Since 2008, we have been developing projects across the entire value chain – from site and project development, through technical planning and implementation, to long-term operation. In doing so, we combine entrepreneurial dynamism with high standards of technical quality, safety and sustainable value creation.
Our international organisation works closely together across national borders. In addition to our head office in London, we have teams in the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain and Australia. Elements Green Deutschland GmbH forms a key pillar for the expansion of our activities in Germany and for the development of a scalable technical centre of excellence in Hamburg.
Our German portfolio currently comprises around 13.2 GWh of battery storage and is being continuously expanded. In addition, we are evaluating and developing further solutions at the interface between renewable energy and flexible infrastructure, including photovoltaics, hybrid projects, hydrogen and selected energy-related applications. For this next phase of growth, we are seeking a technically proficient and entrepreneurially minded leader.
The role
As Technical Director (m/f/d), you will hold overall technical responsibility for the development, planning and delivery of our battery storage projects, as well as future projects involving renewable and emerging energy technologies. You will ensure that our projects are technically robust, consentable, grid-connectable and deliverable, while working with the Managing Directors to build a high-performing technical function in Germany.
You will be more than a technical authority; you will also be a strong leader. You will set direction, establish clear standards, develop people and build a highly qualified, high-performing and collaborative technical team. You will create structures in which people take ownership, decisions are made quickly and technical excellence can be scaled across the whole project portfolio.
Your responsibilities
- Assume overall technical responsibility for the German project portfolio—from early-stage development through delivery and handover into operations.
- Ensure the technical compliance of all projects, particularly with respect to grid connection, permits, applicable guidelines, standards, safety requirements and relevant technical rules and regulations.
- Approve and validate technical concepts, system architectures, designs, specifications and technical assumptions.
- Develop, review and approve grid connection concepts for high- and medium-voltage connections, and lead technical coordination with grid operators.
- Build, lead and develop the technical function in Germany together with the Managing Directors, including workforce planning, recruitment, role design, target operating model and team culture.
- Build a strong technical team with clear responsibilities, excellent delivery capability and the ability to manage multiple projects and external partners effectively.
- Establish consistent technical standards, processes, templates and quality requirements across the entire project portfolio.
- Act as a technical sparring partner to the Managing Directors, the Investment and Development teams, and internal and external project partners.
- Coordinate technically with grid operators, engineering consultancies, technical experts, authorities, EPC partners, suppliers and other delivery stakeholders.
- Maintain an overall technical view of all active projects, including risk identification, risk assessment, mitigation planning and escalation of critical issues.
- Work closely with Development, EPC, Asset Management, Legal, Commercial and Finance to align technical decisions with the commercial and contractual objectives of each project.
- Support international projects in engineering, technical due diligence, technical supplier evaluation and lessons learned.
- Prepare and present technical concepts, project progress updates, risk analyses and decision papers for the Managing Directors and Board.
- Plan technical resources and provide professional stakeholder and interface management.
Your profile
- A completed degree in electrical engineering, power engineering, renewable energy or a comparable technical qualification.
- Several years of professional experience in the technical leadership of projects in renewable energy, battery storage, grid integration, power systems or related technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of grid integration, relevant grid connection requirements, and the interfaces between project development, engineering, permitting and delivery.
- Experience in technical project management and in working with grid operators, authorities, technical experts, EPC partners and technical suppliers.
- Demonstrable leadership experience and the ability to build, motivate and develop a strong technical team—ideally within a growth-oriented or international organisation.
- Strong leadership capability: you set clear direction, make decisions, take ownership and foster a culture of quality, reliability and constructive collaboration.
- An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to balance technical quality, programme targets, costs, risks and deliverability.
- A structured, analytical and solution-oriented approach, with strong technical understanding and a high standard of quality.
- Confidence in interdisciplinary teams and in presentations and decision-making processes at management and Board level.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English.
- Willingness to undertake occasional business travel within Germany and internationally.
