At Lilly in Germany, we are currently planning and building a high-tech production facility in Alzey (Rhineland-Palatinate), which will expand our production of injectable drugs from 2027 and employ up to 1,000 specialists. To make the most of our innovative production site, we are looking for motivated reinforcements who, together with us, will ensure the supply of Lilly medicines in Germany, Europe, and worldwide, in line with the three Lilly values of \“Excellence,\“ \“Integrity,\“ and \“Respect for People.\“

Associate Director – Medical Device Assembly and Packaging Operations (m/w/d)

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • As the Associate Director – Medical Device Assembly and Packaging Operations (DAP), you will report to the Senior Director of Device Assembly and Packaging Operations and become an integral part of our dynamic DAP Operations team.
  • Play a key role in leading all aspects of the assembly and packaging processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the operations.
  • With your expertise in medical devices and packaging and your leadership experience, you will support site start-up and lead of these operations.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and developing all staff within your organization.
  • Responsible for leading your team to achieve project delivery, process development, operational readiness, start-up, and validation/qualification of the medical device assembly and packaging process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create, deploy, and align with GMP procedures, providing expertise in manufacturing operations.
  • Supporting the development of the overall site operational readiness plan: This includes establishing and reinforcing quality processes and approving operational procedures.
  • Networking with global and other device assembly and packaging network sites: This involves understanding standard methodologies, sharing knowledge, and engaging in tactical and strategic business planning.
  • Supporting the site to ensure a safe work environment: This involves leading safety efforts for the team and ensuring compliance with area procedures and controls for parenteral operations.

How do you convince us?

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, Management, or a related field. A Master\’s degree in any of these disciplines is desirable.
  • Proven 7+ years of experience working in the medical device industry, with preferred experience in assembly and packaging and a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the basic requirements of regulatory agencies such as the FDA and EMEA.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, work well within a team, and are passionate about people development.
  • Adept at problem-solving and eager to lead your team, equally passionate about the opportunity to be part of the site start-up.
  • Adaptability and passion are critical. Your leadership will inspire your team and foster growth opportunities at the site. You are ready to take on new challenges and drive success.
  • Open to international travel, proficient in German and English, and willing to work at the Alzey site.
