Our client seeks a senior Data Engineer to help launch a new initiative within Identity and Access Management. The contractor will build and evolve low-latency GraphQL APIs and data pipelines that support developer workflows across the enterprise. The role emphasizes microservices on AWS, data engineering fundamentals, and production monitoring. The team consists of two FTEs and this senior contractor, with one interview round and adherence to Eastern Time working hours. There is a possibility for conversion.
Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $80.00 to $90.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain low-latency GraphQL APIs used in critical developer runtime flows.
- Develop and enhance data pipelines using PySpark or Apache Spark, Snowflake, and AWS Glue.
- Implement microservices on AWS using Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, and related services.
- Ingest, transform, and serve data to power API responses with strong data modeling and quality practices.
- Set up monitoring, observability, and alerting for APIs, data jobs, and microservices.
- Collaborate with IAM stakeholders to support an agentic risk-identification initiative.
- Contribute to architecture, security, and performance reviews for cloud-native services.
- Work within EST hours in a fully remote environment and participate in a streamlined interview process.
Experience Requirements:
- 10+ years in data engineering and full-stack or backend service development.
- Hands-on expertise with GraphQL API design and implementation.
- Strong proficiency with PySpark or Scala/Spark, batch processing, and AWS Glue.
- Experience with Snowflake and building scalable data pipelines.
- Advanced AWS experience focused on Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, and associated services.
- Prior senior-level ownership in cloud environments with production monitoring and reliability.
- Background delivering low-latency, highly available microservices at scale.
- Ability to operate in a small, high-impact team and augment existing pipelines.
