About The Role
You are an experienced relational database specialist with a passion for performance optimization of large datasets. You will support and continuously improve the chemical full text retrieval search, providing an (almost) real‑time experience for customers. The role is part of an agile development team and involves collaboration across teams in Bengaluru, India, and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Education & Experience
- Expert (5+ years) PostgreSQL or Oracle database experience focused on schema, data structure, and query optimization.
- Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in computer science or life sciences with a strong background in database performance.
Your Responsibilities
- Understand, design, and maintain data structures and schemas to meet customer use cases.
- Transform data structures for different representations and implementations.
- Optimize the database (indexes, data structures, queries), and implement extensions or stored procedures for fast result retrieval.
- Contribute as an active member of the agile team, participating in ceremonies and decision making.
- Work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries.
You Should Bring
- Expert level experience in PostgreSQL or Oracle; experience in both is a plus.
- Strong background in database performance optimization.
- Intermediate scripting experience in Bash, Perl, or Python.
- Fluent English oral and written communication skills.
- Ability and passion to work in a diverse team.
- Experience in AI-supported development or working.
Bonus Skills
- Basic chemistry or life sciences knowledge.
- Experience or training in AWS.
- Experience or training in C/C++.
- Experience or training in Linux.
- Knowledge of Jenkins, JIRA, and Confluence.
Primary Location and Base Pay Range
Germany – Frankfurt (Baseler Platz) €62,200 – €103,500.
