Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Delivery
  • Lead or support end-to-end project delivery based on the applicable Work Order.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, milestones and deliverables.
  • Establish appropriate project-management structures and workflows.
  • Coordinate project activities and dependencies.
  • Monitor progress against approved objectives, timelines and deliverables.
  • Identify potential delays, risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Develop practical mitigation and resolution strategies.
  • Support successful project completion and administrative close-out.
  • Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management
  • Coordinate activities among clients, project teams, vendors and other authorized stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project meetings and working sessions where required.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding project status, deliverables and outstanding requirements.
  • Coordinate information and dependencies between project participants.
  • Document project decisions, action items and follow-up requirements.
  • Escalate matters requiring client or Matrix direction.
  • Project Controls & Reporting
  • Maintain project schedules, trackers and status documentation.
  • Monitor milestones, deliverables and project dependencies.
  • Track risks, issues, decisions and action items.
  • Prepare project status reports and management updates.
  • Maintain appropriate project records and documentation.
  • Monitor project requirements against the approved Work Order.
  • Support project quality-control and deliverable review processes.
  • Budget & Resource Coordination

Where included within the applicable Work Order

  • Assist with project budgeting and resource planning.
  • Monitor project expenditures and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate project resources and external service providers.
  • Identify potential budget or resource pressures.
  • Provide appropriate project reporting to authorized stakeholders.

Contractors are not responsible for financial approvals or commitments outside the authority specifically granted under the applicable Work Order.

  • Process Improvement & Implementation
  • Identify opportunities to improve project workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Support process redesign and implementation initiatives.
  • Develop practical procedures, workflows and project documentation.
  • Assist with organizational change and implementation activities.
  • Support transition, implementation and post-project activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project-management practices and client processes.
  • Project Scoping & Planning Support

Where requested

  • Assist with project discovery and requirements gathering.
  • Support development of project scopes and implementation plans.
  • Provide professional input regarding project feasibility, sequencing, timelines and resource requirements.
  • Identify project dependencies and implementation considerations.
  • Assist with preparation of project proposals, statements of work and related planning materials.

Final commercial decisions, contractual commitments and client approvals remain with the appropriate Matrix or client representative.

Assignment & Project Management

Contractors will

  • Review the applicable Work Order and project requirements.
  • Independently organize and manage assigned projects.
  • Determine appropriate project-management methodologies, tools and processes.
  • Use Matrix's designated online project-management and collaboration platform to access assignment information and collaborate as required.
  • Maintain appropriate project records and status information.
  • Provide agreed project updates and deliverables.
  • Identify matters requiring clarification or client authorization.
  • Complete agreed deliverables within the established project parameters.
  • Client-Site & Hybrid Assignments

Depending on the Work Order, assignments may require attendance at

  • corporate offices
  • government offices and ministries
  • law firms
  • professional practices
  • healthcare organizations
  • financial or insurance organizations
  • technology or operational facilities
  • client project sites
  • and other authorized locations

In-person activities may include project meetings, workshops, stakeholder sessions, implementation support, process assessments, information gathering, project coordination or other authorized project activities.

Contractors are expected to maintain professional conduct, presentation, confidentiality and discretion when working at client locations.

  • Core Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant project-management, consulting, professional-services or operational project experience.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing projects or significant project workstreams.
  • Strong project planning, organization and coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and project dependencies.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to operate an independent professional practice and provide services on a project basis.
  • Ability and willingness to attend client locations when required by an assignment.

This is an independent contractor, project-based engagement and not an employment position.

Contractors manage their assigned projects independently and are responsible for determining the manner, method, sequence and tools used to perform the work, subject to the applicable Work Order, required deliverables, agreed timelines, confidentiality obligations and client-specific requirements.

Matrix provides the client relationship, assignment scope and required deliverables.

Contractors independently manage the execution of their assignments and use Matrix's designated online project-management and collaboration platform to receive Work Orders, access assignment information, provide status updates and collaborate with Matrix and authorized client contacts as required.

Contractors may accept assignments based on their availability, qualifications, experience and capacity.

Contractors are responsible for maintaining the professional capabilities, equipment, technology, transportation and other resources necessary to perform their assignments, except where otherwise agreed for a specific project.

Contractors are responsible for their own applicable taxes, government remittances, insurance, business expenses and other obligations arising from their independent business activities.

Nothing in the contractor relationship creates an employment, partnership, joint-venture or agency relationship between the contractor and Matrix or the client.

The nature, location, scope and duration of each assignment will depend on the applicable client Work Order.
