We have recently started an exciting ERP transformation programme replacing our existing HR, Financials and Procurement system landscape across all of our six sites with Workday. We have just gone live with Workday HCM (Human Capital Management). The next phase of the transformation will encompass Financials and Procurement. By standardising and digitalising our tools and processes, we want to optimise our financial and procurement processes.
About The Role
As a Workday Financials Consultant. You will be responsible for
- Working closely with the finance specialists, EMBL project team and implementation partner for successful implementation and roll out.
- Following the roll out you will be responsible for liaising with the Finance, EMBL IT teams and the Workday support team for technical configuration support and coordinating the bi-annual Workday upgrades.
- You will also be providing conceptual support for the integration of the Workday system with our legacy ERP system until all Workday suite is fully operational
- Optimizing Workday – Improve and develop our Workday systems aligning to business needs
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising with the Procurement team, gathering business requirements aligning with the Procurement Strategy and translating this into Workday best practices
- Serve as a trusted advisor by bringing in Workday expertise, including technical design, configuration, testing, cutover and deployment
- Assist in configuring, design, analyse, and optimize the following modules: Time Tracking, Accounting, Banking and Settlement, Budgets, Business Assets, Customer Accounts, Suppliers and Supplier Accounts, Expenses, Inventory and Projects
- Provide guidance for test scenarios including the integration landscape, support UAT, and be able to move configuration from implementation tenants to production
- Liaising with third party consultants and internal stakeholders, investigating and resolving Workday Procurement issues on a day-to-day basis
- Coordinate the bi-annual Workday system upgrades
- Support for integration between Workday and EMBLs upstream & downstream systems
- Collaborate with technical security lead on designing & implementing changes to Security Model
- Establish knowledge management within the team by training key users and deliver ongoing support for smooth adoption and effective utilisation of Workday systems
- Support organizational change management initiatives and stakeholder alignment, to drive adoption and minimize resistance.

Workday Competencies
- In depth understanding of Workday Procurement data model, security, business processes and reporting:
- Minimum 2 years of experience implementing Workday solutions including Financials, Expenses and Time Tracking
- You have a strong expertise in cross functional dependencies in Workday
- Ability to support and coordinate Workday releases and associated testing and training activities
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of Workday configuration desirable
- Knowledge of Workday Studio, EIBs, and reporting tools
- Knowledge of procurement, payroll systems
- Knowledge of Workday connectors, integrations and APIs for third party systems
- MS Office skills – Ability to analyse, describe, present and review complex processes and suggest pragmatic solutions
Organisational Competencies
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Analytical mindset to identify root causes of technical and business issues.
- Creative thinking to design efficient and scalable ERP solutions.
- Ability to balance the requirements of cross-functional teams (developers, business analysts, stakeholders).
- Handling changes in project scope, business requirements, or technology trends.
- Quick learning to stay updated with new ERP technologies and methodologies.
- Managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.
- Understanding user needs to deliver ERP solutions that enhance productivity.
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- German language skills are beneficial

Salary: Grade 6, monthly salary from EUR 4,459 per month after tax, excl. pension and health insurance contributions.
