Role at level Manager 4 under Mrs. Aastha Vij,Your roleAs the Head of Engineering for Healthcare Digital, Data & IT – Data & AI Solutions, you will expand & spearhead a talented team of cloud and DevOps engineers, front-end developers and data engineers in leveraging state-of-the-art technology to design, build & evolve scalable, performant & secure Data & AI solutions for Healthcare R&D. As a leader of leads and senior engineers, it will be your responsibility to coach your organization to become the best they can be.You will collaborate with Heads of Product Management, Architecture & AI and DDITIT Business Partners to plan product roadmaps and build cross-functional product teams that deliver on our R&D ambitions. Your leadership will be instrumental in promoting a culture of technological excellence and innovation, guiding the team through the entire product lifecycle from inception to deployment and beyond.The position can be filled in Switzerland or Germany.Key Responsibilities:Lead and develop the engineering team through the entire software development lifecycle.Collaborate with leaders in Product Management, Architecture & AI, Business partners and R&D experts to understand business objectives, refine product roadmaps & priorities and set up cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.Attract, hire, onboard and retain exceptional engineers.Grow and expand the team’s technical expertise with an eye toward diverse and forward-looking skills in line with our target Data & AI technology landscape.Champion engineering excellence by coaching the team on engineering best practices and agile methodologies and establish team standards & ways to practically apply them.Ensure a strong focus on performance, reliability, and compliance with Merck standards in every solution your team delivers.Foster a high-performance culture that empowers engineers from diverse backgrounds and experience levels to collaborate effectively, experiment, learn continuously, and take accountability for driving high-impact results while providing technical mentorship and celebrating their successes.Keep up with the latest in cloud, front-end, data, and AI technologies to build strong tech teams.Support the technical architecture of our applications and D&A landscape with your technical knowledge to ensure our products are developed with quality and scalability.Who you are:You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.You bring extensive experience (10+ years) in software engineering and technology leadership, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.You excel at building and scaling global teams, with a strong focus on people management, talent development, and fostering a collaborative team culture.You have a proven track record in designing and implementing large-scale cloud systems.You hold a deep understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Snowflake) and associated technologies (Azure DevOps).You have expertise in microservices architecture, API design, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).You possess strong knowledge of security best-practices and GxP compliance standards in cloud environments.You have exceptional communication skills and can engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment and influence key decisions.Experience with Healthcare R&D is a plus.Department: HC-HF-IRH Data & AI SolutionsRole Level: AT / M4 #J-18808-Ljbffr
