Serves as Engineering Technician (Electrical) working on electric and electronic systems to include but not limited to emergency lighting systems, lighting control systems, facilities entrance control systems, intercom systems, door speaking systems, video systems, camera systems with associated systems, audio systems, electric operated doors, obstruction light systems, force protection systems with associates systems like tire shredding systems or electric barriers; traffic light systems, elevators, photo-voltaic systems, EIB-systems, uninterruptable power supplies, emergency power generators and other types of electronic controlled devices.
Follows pertinent regulations such as DIN, VDE, safety regulations and technical manuals.
By applying practical knowledge of electrical engineering technician trade incumbent continuously performs condition control, maintenance, repair and adjustments on electric and electronic systems. On a regular basis controls subject systems, locates deficiencies, makes necessary adjustments and performs maintenance and repair work as required. Disassembles and reassembles equipment to repair or replace worn-out or otherwise unserviceable component parts. Uses a wide variety of electric and electronic test equipment including a laptop with software specific to the different systems.
Reports major repair or replacement requirements to supervisor. Maintenance and repair work requires application of practical knowledge of repair techniques and familiarity with electric and electronic systems.
Conducts work site studies to investigate current condition of facilities, utilities plants and systems to determine necessary technical data concerning projects for extension, alteration, maintenance or repair.
Assists supervisor, in-house designers and external designers during the project design phase as Subject Matter Expert (SME) which components or systems need to be replaced; which new technologies need to be selected and how these new systems could be connected/interact with the existing systems or what need to be altered at the existing systems to incorporate the new systems.
Acts as DPW SME during the acceptance phase of projects in his/her AOR.
Performs other duties as assigned.

- E&T Level I, II and III: not creditable for this occupational series
- E&T Level IVB and IVC: A Meister Diploma or Staatlich gepruefter Techniker in a trades or crafts field directly related to the position; PLUS 1 year of job related experience as defined below.
- E&T Level IV A and D: not creditable for positions in this occupational series.
- E&T Level V: Graduation from a University or equivalent, e.g., Fachhochschule, the Berufsakademie,or Technische Hochschule as Wirtschaftsingenieur, Ingenieur des Maschinenwesens, der Elekrotechnik oder des Bauwesens; no additional experience required.
Job Related Experience: Experience must be directly related to the area of specialization of the position and must be at a level of difficulty that compares to the grade of the position. Advanced journeyman trades and crafts experience that provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods and precedents is a prerequisite, e.g., experience as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic that shows progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of the area of specialization of the position.
