Sensory Scientist (m/f/d)

As part of the Innovation team at Ohly, we are seeking an Sensory Scientist (m/f/d) to support our Advanced Sensory Team. In this role, you will work closely with the Global Lead Expert (GLE) – Advanced Sensory to develop and optimize flavoring products, refine sensory testing methodologies, and contribute to the expansion of our sensory knowledge base in a global perimeter.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the development and characterization of new flavoring and texturizing solutions
2. Help maintain and expand sensory databases, documenting sensory profiles of new and competitor products
3. Lead sensory panels and regularly train the panel
4. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Marketing, and external collaborators, to advance innovation projects
5. Provide sensory science expertise to internal stakeholders including training, supporting product development projects and quality control
6. Stay updated on the latest advancements in the area
7. Collaborate with universities, CROs, and other external partners for testing new technologies
8. Bring in ideas to upgrade our technical capabilities for sensory analysis
9. Assist in determining and validating the shelf-life of Ohly’s products

Your Profile

1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Flavour Science, Food Science, or a related field
2. 2+ years of relevant experience. Experience in flavor development is a plus
3. Strong understanding of sensory testing methodologies, flavor characterization, and sensory evaluation tools
4. Proficiency in sensory data analysis and interpretation
5. Creative mindset, ability to generate different ways of development
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a cross-functional and global team environment
7. Problem-solver with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
8. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals
9. Good command of English, both spoken and written; German knowledge is considered a plus
