EMEA Lead Construction, Design and Construction
DESCRIPTION
As a Lead Construction Manager, you’ll be a key part of our operations team, responsible for D&C Solutions, project managing new Amazon Fulfillment Centers, and refurbishing existing Amazon buildings. This role offers exciting opportunities for innovation and global collaboration, with up to 50% of travel to various EMEA countries.
You will play an integral role in the development and implementation of the EU network infrastructure. You will analyze and evaluate different facility scenarios and build-out designs. In addition, you will support the standardization of the technical and facility-related processes and systems. This position combines engineering expertise, project management skills, and strategic thinking to solve complex infrastructure challenges.
Key job responsibilities
- Oversee construction engineering, planning, and design for Amazon fulfillment centers and other new or Retrofit, Expansion, or Initiative (REI) projects
- Provide project support for new fulfillment network buildings and capacity expansions within existing European fulfillment centers
- Undertake construction engineering design, prepare reports, specifications, and technical analysis to define project requirements
- Survey facilities, develop audit procedures, provide evaluations and recommend solutions for infrastructure, safety, and security issues
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, ensure contracts are fit-for-purpose and cost-effective
- Manage project sites, coordinate teams, and ensure contracted resources deliver work to quality and duration targets
- Coach project teams and support contractors to improve performance levels
- Support and coach team members, including potential direct reports
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering or Architecture, or equivalent
- Project management, construction or engineering experience with a proven track record of managing both new builds and the enhancement of existing warehouses/logistics buildings
- Construction market experience in one or more EMEA countries
- Project Management experience from design phase through implementation and operation
- Experience negotiating construction, procurement and labor contracts in EU
- Experience in managing construction quality systems
- Experience in leading a team
- Advanced proficiency in written and verbal English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Six Sigma and Lean analytical techniques
- MRICS / RIBA qualification or equivalent
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent
- Proficiency in additional languages such as German, French, Polish, Arabic, Afrikaans, Zulu or Turkish
