About the Role

We are seeking a technically outstanding Senior Grid Compliance Engineer with deep grid forming expertise to join Envision's Grid CoE for Europe, Africa & Middle East. The role will focus on Central Europe, with the opportunity to take part in projects across the other markets covered by the team. You will be the team's grid forming reference, ensuring that our BESS, WTG and hybrid solutions meet the GFM requirements now being specified and mandated by system operators.

You will work at the interface of TSOs, customers, front-line sales, R&D and project delivery, turning grid forming requirements into compliant plant designs, credible evidence and commitments we can deliver, and helping shape how those requirements are written.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define grid forming solutions and demonstrate GFM compliance for BESS, WTG and hybrid plants in every market where a GFM requirement exists or is being introduced.
  • Engage actively in TSO, ENTSO-E and industry working groups on grid forming, representing Envision to influence the development of GFM regulation and requirements. This is one of the key priorities of the role.
  • Act as the team's grid forming reference.
  • Define GFM capability and sizing at plant level.
  • Specify, conduct and review PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory GFM studies: weak-grid stability, islanding, system split, small-signal and control interaction.
  • Lead grid compliance for BESS, wind and hybrid projects in Central Europe, from bid to COD, and support projects in the other markets of the team.
  • Support bids and contracts with compliance matrices, deviations, GFM performance commitments and risk assessment.
  • Monitor and interpret the grid codes of all the countries within the Grid CoE's responsibilities.
  • Plan and follow certification and witnessed GFM tests.
  • Translate market GFM requirements into product requirements for the converter, PCS and PPC teams.
  • Coach the wider team on grid forming through knowledge sharing, training and mentoring.

Stakeholder & Project Engagement

  • Lead the technical interface with TSOs and DSOs on grid connection and grid forming topics.
  • Engage directly with customers and lenders on grid topics, including GFM claims and their evidence.
  • Coordinate with sales, bid, R&D and project delivery teams for aligned and efficient execution.
  • Procure and manage consultants and certification bodies.
  • Represent Envision in regulatory consultations, industry events and conferences on grid forming.

Reporting Line

This role will report directly to the Team Lead of the Grid CoE Europe, Africa & Middle East and work closely with the Grid Connection Managers, the grid engineers and cross-functional teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering or a related discipline; MSc preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in grid integration of converter-based generation, including 3+ years of hands‑on grid forming work (OEM, TSO, consultancy or research).
  • Expert knowledge of grid forming control, power system dynamics and converter-grid interaction.
  • Demonstrable GFM track record: a project, pilot, certification, TSO requirement drafting or published work.
  • Working knowledge of PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory, enough to specify, read and challenge studies.
  • Experience leading technical discussions with TSOs and supporting bids and contracts.
  • Autonomy, strong prioritisation and the assertiveness to hold technical positions with TSOs and customers.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • German at professional working level (highly valued).
  • Participation in ENTSO-E, FNN, VDE or CIGRE working groups on grid forming.
