Mission
The Construction Materials Laboratory (LMC) at EPFL, under the direction of Professor Karen Scrivener, is seeking a construction foreman with federal diploma, a ES technician in site management, or an equivalent profile, to strengthen its team.
The LMC is a reference laboratory in the field of cementitious materials. It conducts cutting-edge research activities aimed at developing higher performing and more sustainable construction materials. At the same time, it serves as a recognised centre of expertise, offering its knowledge to the construction industry.
The main missions of the laboratory are as follows:
- Provide high-level teaching in the field of construction materials. - Conduct fundamental and applied research projects on cementitious materials. - Carry out technical expertise for stakeholders in the construction sector. - Perform testing and quality control of construction materials for industrial partners.
Within this role, the recruited person will contribute to the laboratory’s technical activities by applying their skills in construction materials, site techniques and quality control.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The employee will be responsible for the preparation, organisation, coordination and monitoring of one or more projects, from the preparation of the estimate to the invoicing of the files:
- Preparation of estimates and invoicing - Various tests for external stakeholders (standard concrete testing) in the laboratory - Assistance with expert work - Teaching assistance (practical work) - Sampling and testing on site - Complete management of mandates
Secondary tasks:
- Equipment maintenance - Machine calibration - Internal training for machine use
Profile
- ES technician diploma, site manager, junior HES civil engineer or equivalent qualification - Federal diploma as construction foreman - Good knowledge of construction materials (concrete, steel, masonry, wood, etc.) - Fluency in French, good knowledge of English would be an asset - Rigour and organisational skills, analytical mindset - Dynamic, proactive and autonomous - Driving licence required
