ABOUT THE ROLE
This role owns ERC's development assurance processes: how requirements, architecture, validation and verification evidence are produced, traced and released across UAS, system, equipment, item and software level.
You define the framework and make it work on live programmes. Much of the job happens in conversation, so you will spend your time with the engineering teams rather than with documents alone. Your closest counterparts are our Configuration Manager, System Safety and the other teams who apply the process every day.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own ERC's development assurance framework based on ARP4754B and DO-178C
- Write and maintain the Development Assurance, Validation, Verification and Process Assurance Plans
- Define which artefacts and maturity levels each gate requires, from Concept Design through to Entry Into Service
- Assign development assurance levels with System Safety and derive the independence requirements
- Build requirements and V&V workflows and keep traceability consistent across levels
- Sit with the IPTs to understand how engineers actually work before changing how they work
- Guide programmes through gate reviews and process audits, and close the findings
WHAT YOU BRING
- Deep, hands-on experience applying ARP4754A/B in aircraft or UAS development programmes
- Practical command of DO-178C and how software assurance connects to system level
- A track record of defining development processes, not only working within them
- Experience assigning development assurance levels and deriving process requirements from them
- Confident use of requirements management tooling for cross-level traceability
- No hesitation in walking up to people you have not met, asking how they work and getting them on board
- A technical degree in aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering, and fluent English
WHAT WE OFFER
- Full-scale aerospace engineering, not concept slides
- A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn
- Real ownership and flat hierarchies: a modern startup culture where your input shapes decisions, not just execution
- Flexible working hours, remote work, and competitive compensation
- Health & wellbeing: EGYM Wellpass membership and subsidized lunch in our canteen
- Office extras: espresso coffee, fresh fruit, and soft drinks, plus regular team and company events, and plenty more once you're on board
