Job Description
By implementing tax policy, the Directorate General of Taxation (DGF) guarantees the resources necessary for the functioning of the State, the financing of infrastructure and public services, as well as the quality of life for the entire population of Vaud.
As Deputy Director General, you combine unquestionable technical legitimacy with a global strategic vision and lead major tax reforms at the heart of current affairs and citizen expectations such as individual taxation, imputed rental value, minimum taxation of corporate groups, agricultural taxation, etc.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic projects and cantonal tax reforms in partnership with the Director General.
- Advise the general management on tax, financial, institutional and political issues related to ongoing reforms.
- Contribute to defining the vision and strategic orientations of the DGF, and act as deputy to the Director General.
- Supervise the legislative affairs of the DGF, lead legislative drafting work on tax matters and ensure the preparation and monitoring of bills and regulations.
- Ensure the coherence and legal security of Vaud tax practice and support DGF units in handling complex, new or sensitive tax issues.
- Coordinate responses to parliamentary interventions, maintain relations with the Grand Council and participate in preparing files for the State Council.
- Represent the DGF with cantonal and federal tax administrations, participate in the work of the Swiss Tax Conference (CSI) and develop a professional network in relevant circles.
- Support the transformation and modernisation of the tax administration, promoting a process-oriented approach, digitalisation of services and continuous improvement of operating methods.

Qualifications
- University degree in law, lawyer’s certificate, tax expert diploma or expert diploma from the Swiss Tax Conference (CSI). - LL.M. in taxation or doctorate in tax law is an asset. - Additional training in management or public administration. - Proven professional experience in Swiss taxation, including leading or supporting tax policy projects and legislative reforms, within a Swiss tax administration or an institutional environment closely linked to tax authorities. - Excellent knowledge of Swiss tax law and its national and international developments. - Global and strategic vision, excellent analytical, synthesis and writing skills, strong decision-making ability, sense of responsibility and public service ethics. - Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and representation skills, leadership and a strong sense of cross-functional collaboration. - Fluency in French as well as very good knowledge of German and English.
