OverviewThe Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is hiring a tenure-track group leader (assistant professor level) in Structural Biology. We are looking for an innovative scientist with a research program focused on mechanistic questions that are related to genome regulation, RNA metabolism, or protein homeostasis. We are especially interested in candidates using cutting-edge structural biology approaches.Responsibilities (as implied)The position includes a generous start-up package including core funding and access to state-of-the-art core facilities. You will be part of a dynamic, English-speaking scientific community with opportunities to collaborate across our research focus areas: Genome Regulation, Multicellular Systems and Neurobiology.Qualifications and expectationsInnovative scientist with a research program focused on mechanistic questions related to genome regulation, RNA metabolism, or protein homeostasis, using cutting-edge structural biology approaches.Experience in establishing and leading a research program within a university or research institute (tenure-track/assistant professor level or equivalent).Institutional context and environmentThe FMI is a world-class biomedical research institute affiliated with the University of Basel and Novartis Biomedical Research. It has an international staff of around 330 people from over 40 countries, including 150 postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. Located in Basel, the third largest city in Switzerland, the FMI benefits from a vibrant cultural scene and a convenient situation on the borders with France and Germany. Basel is the leading European hub for life sciences with many opportunities in academia, as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
