Overview

In this PhD role at ETH Zurich, you will investigate how local contact interactions in architected materials shape their macroscopic interface response. You will bridge cell-scale mechanics with multiscale and rough-surface contact concepts to develop effective descriptions. Through numerical modeling and theory, you’ll uncover principles guiding contact behavior in lattice materials and their scale-up. This position offers an international, collaborative environment focused on advancing failure mechanics and design principles for resilient materials.
