Overview
Join ETH Zurich's Ultrafast Dynamics Group as a PhD student to advance experimental ultrafast optics and photonics. You will develop time-resolved experiments that probe time-varying electromagnetic media, combining pump-probe spectroscopy with terahertz techniques. You’ll contribute to building a new experimental platform and work closely with cross-group researchers to address core questions at the intersection of photonics and ultrafast science. This is a fully funded four-year opportunity to shape cutting-edge light-matter studies.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Develop ultrafast optical pump-probe experiments
- Generate and detect broadband terahertz pulses with phase resolution
- Characterize subwavelength THz waveguides in collaboration with project partners
- Develop advanced optical instrumentation and methodologies
- Analyze data and perform numerical modelling
- Collaborate with ETH research groups on the project
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Master in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Strong interest in experimental physics
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Enthusiasm for developing advanced experimental techniques
- Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Experience in ultrafast optics or terahertz spectroscopy is advantageous but not required
