pReady to elevate athlete performance with higher-quality metrics for guiding training and recovery? The Running Performance Group at the Exercise Physiology Lab in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zurich, is expanding its activities in sports performance research. We are currently offering a fixed-term postdoctoral position in the field of athlete monitoring. /ph3Project background /h3pCurrent technologies enable the collection of vast amounts of data from athletes. Despite many technical advances, the field is not yet able to deliver on its marketing claims and athletes are swamped by data that does not add value to training planning. The goal of this postdoctoral position is to develop and evaluate new ideas for monitoring the load and recovery of athletes, with the aim to improve performance, including investigating different types of sports equipment that may modulate training load and recovery. /ph3Job description /h3pYou will design studies involving experimental investigations in the laboratory and telemonitored training and testing sessions. The goal of these studies is to develop protocols and metrics aimed at better assessing the relationship between training load and recovery to optimize training processes. /pulliDesign, execute and publish studies in the field of athlete monitoring /liliBe the lead person in the team testing and developing new approaches for monitoring and assessing athletes, including laboratory protocols /liliEstablish new collaborations within and outside the ETH Domain, leveraging new technologies in sports science research /liliSeek opportunities for multi-centric studies and partnerships with sports clubs or teams /liliPresent your work at national and international conferences /liliSupport teaching activities and co-supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students /li /ulh3Profile /h3ulliPhD in Sports Sciences or Engineering in the context of Sports Sciences /liliExperience with longitudinal studies, tracking load and recovery in athletes /liliExcellent coding experience / able to handle vast amounts of data /liliSolid background in biomechanics, including hands-on testing experience, with a good foundation of exercise physiology /liliProactive and inquisitive personality, eager to exploring new approaches, self-motivated and team-oriented /liliOutstanding academic qualifications and communication skills /liliExperience in coaching at different levels is welcome /liliProficiency in English (spoken and written, C1 level) and German (spoken and written, C1 level), or strong commitment to learn quickly /li /ulh3We offer /h3pWe offer a fully funded full-time postdoctoral position on the ETH Zurich postdoctoral salary scale for one year (renewable to a maximum of 6 years) a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment with access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and technologies.
