Overview
Our client is a large, complex and international organisation looking for a Financial Accountant. This is a new role to join an existing team and will be responsible to:
- Oversee the Accounts Payable ledger managed by the Shared Service Centre, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
- Post monthly general journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts in compliance with financial policies.
- Prepare and manage provisions and prepayment schedules, ensuring correct accounting treatment.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of Quarterly VAT returns, sales reports, and other statutory filings.
- Review and reconcile bank statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Support the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain and update accrual listings, ensuring all costs are properly recorded and accounted for.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances.
- Oversee the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance with accounting standards.
- Identify and drive process improvements in collaboration with the Finance Business Partner to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a key liaison, providing guidance and support to the Shared Service Centre and other departments on financial processes.
- Handle ad hoc financial requests as required to support business operations.
This role will require a minimum of 2 days per week in the office, ideally 3.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
- Degree in accounting (or similar)
- Fluent in German (native level) and English
- High degree of teamwork, flexibility, and initiative
- An eye for detail and accuracy, highly numerate and able to work to deadlines
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with a current job level of as financial accountant
