Job Description

As the IT of the REWE Group Austria, with more than 600 employees, we develop innovative IT products and services for all our corporate divisions in Austria and abroad and set the tone for modern trade.

With the rise of big data and data-driven decision-making processes, the provision and management of data is becoming increasingly important. Our team is responsible for providing a central platform for curating and managing data and enforcing centralized governance.

We are looking for 1 Expert Data Engineer (m/w/d)

Location: Am Europl. 2, 1120 Wien, Austria
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  1. Plan, develop and implement an optimal data architecture on the Google platform to provide a high-quality foundation for analysis and machine learning use cases.
  2. Collaborate with analysts, product managers and backend developers to understand and implement data requirements.
  3. Support the design and implementation of new extraction, transformation and loading processes from various data sources.
  4. Utilize and ensure state-of-the-art methodologies (CI/CD) to deliver a future-proof scalable form.

Qualifications

  1. Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud.
  2. Experience in creating scalable data pipelines.
  3. Familiarity with custom ETL design and maintenance.
  4. Knowledge of XML & JSON data formats.
  5. Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar).
  6. Programming skills in R, Python, Java, etc.
  7. Experience in creating data workflows via Kafka, Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow or similar tools.
  8. Experience in communicating via REST APIs.
  9. General experience in delivering a scaled data and analytics platform.
  10. Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modeling.
  11. Independent and structured way of working.
  12. High level of ownership and ability to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
  13. English knowledge in spoken and written.
