Chief Scientific Officer, Kilchberg Zurich

To strengthen our strategic leadership in science and research, EULAR is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team in the newly created role of Chief Scientific Officer. This role reports directly to the Executive Director.

Your responsibilities :

In this leadership position, you will oversee all of EULAR’s scientific departments and activities, including :

• Leading and coordinating EULAR’s scientific, research and advocacy activities in collaboration with the existing teams and related committees (EULAR Research, EULAR Advocacy, EULAR Quality of Care).
• Ensure consistent project management standards across all science-, advocacy- and research-related projects.
• Managing EULAR’s two scientific journals in close cooperation with editors and the publishing partner.
• Representing EULAR at the annual EULAR Congress.
• Preparing regular reports on EULAR’s scientific activities and output for internal and external stakeholders.
• Working closely with EULAR leadership to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Manage several small, high-performing teams.

Your profile :

• Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in a relevant scientific field; a medical background is an advantage.
• At least 7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a comparable non-profit or scientific organisation.
• Solid experience in health, research, or science; familiarity with managing EU-funded projects is an asset.
• Strong understanding of healthcare and research in an international context; interest in rheumatology is a plus.
• Experience with scientific publishing or journal management is an asset.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, ideally with experience in an international environment.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. German is a plus but not mandatory.
• High level of integrity, responsibility, and discretion.
• Availability to travel internationally.
• Interest in working in a multicultural, diverse environment.
