- Contribute to innovative research and teaching in Cultural Anthropology / European Ethnology
- Lead and inspire students in a dynamic and international academic environment
- Collaboration in teaching
- in thedegree programs of Cultural Anthropology / European Ethnology, in German and English,
- supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses in these degree programs
- Implementation of research-based teaching projects with students
- Study organisation
- Continuous development of the degree programs
- Support in the (re)accreditation of the degree programs
- Academic advising
- Carrying out research and publishing in the fields ofhistorical anthropology of socialism (with a regional focus on the German Democratic Republic (GDR)),Public Anthropology,Anthropology of Postsocialism
- Specialised supervision and expansion of the KAEE Mainz collection;development and expansion of the existing and new archival collections of the cultural anthropology/European ethnology in Mainz, informed by current debates in Public Anthropology and archival studies
- Collaborative research with students, particularly for the Bachelor and Master theses
- Independent work on attracting third-party funding
- Public relations
- Maintaining contact with different actors in the cultural and museum landscapes in Rhineland-Palatinate
- Development and expansion of research and cooperation projects
- Coordination and implementation of departmental events
In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.
- A successfully completed scientific university degree, preferably in Cultural Anthropology / European Ethnology / Empirical Cultural Studies / Social Anthropology
- A Ph.D. degree, preferably in Cultural Anthropology / European Ethnology / Empirical Cultural Studies / Social Anthropology
- At least two years and six months of full-time professional experience after a university degree
- Excellent knowledge of
- academic conversations in at least one of the following areas: Historical Anthropology, Public Anthropology, Anthropology of Postsocialism
- preparing applications for third-party funding is an advantage
- European and international funding programs and funding institutions is desirable
- University and research organizational structures is desirable
- The cultural and museum landscapes in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, and Europeis an advantage
- very good organizational and communication skills
- very good knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written
