Offer Description

WU is currently inviting applications for the position of a full professor (1) of Sustainability Economics at the Department of Socioeconomics (part-time 20%, duration of employment is 3 years). Candidates are expected to have established an international reputation as a researcher in their field.

(1) Employed under salary group A 1 pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff (Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten), minimum gross yearly salary: € 92,460.20 (full-time); the actual annual gross salary is subject to negotiation.

The successful candidate is expected to have established an international reputation as a researcher in the relevant field and to have excellent qualifications. Candidates’ qualifications will be assessed in the context of their academic age based on the following characteristics:

  • A solid academic qualification (habilitation or its equivalent) in economics or a related area
  • An outstanding international reputation for high quality scholarship at the intersection of sustainability economics, complex systems, and behavioral change commensurate with academic age, especially by having demonstrated the ability to publish in top-tier journals in the field
  • Excellent teaching qualifications at undergraduate and graduate levels as well as in executive educationin sustainability economics, focusing on the dynamic interactions between ecological and economic systems and advancing economic understanding of social-ecological resilience and sustainability transitions
  • Proven international experience
  • A strong record in attracting research funding
  • Gender and diversity management skills
