Offer Description
Welcome to Jena University Hospital!
We are Thuringia's only university hospital:
Patient care, research and teaching go hand in hand here. We treat more than 520,000 patients every year in our 32 clinics and polyclinics.
Their satisfaction is our goal. This is what our more than 6,800 employees work towards every day.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Make key contributions to the ERC Starting Grant funded project 'PerturbPhos' (Grant agreement ID: 101222284), developing ultra-sensitive mass spectrometry (MS)-based phosphoproteomics technologies to study how drugs affect a patient's tumor proteome
- Build and optimize a scalable phosphoproteomics platform tailored to high-dimensional perturbation experiments of primary cells
- Analyze large-scale (phospho)proteomics datasets using R or Python-based computational tools to integrate prior knowledge and characterize drug-induced phosphorylation changes
- Work and communicate efficiently across inter-professional teams
- Disseminate project results through presentations and manuscripts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- PhD in (bio)chemistry, molecular biology, systems biology, or a related field
- Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, ideally with hands-on experience in low-input phosphoproteomics
- Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture and sample preparation for MS analysis
- Ability to independently develop and troubleshoot MS-based proteomics workflows
- Prior experience with clinical patient material and/or characterizing small molecule drugs is desired
- Proficiency in R or Python for analyzing omics datasets, including statistical analysis and integration of multiple datatypes
- Strong track record of scientific excellence (e.g., high-quality first-author publications), rigorous research practice, and commitment to research integrity
- Strong ability work and communicate effectively in interdisciplinary teams (clinicians, biologists, bioinformaticians)
- Strong scientific writing and presentation skills in English.
We offer:
- Classification is based on TV-L in pay grade E13 if the personal and collective agreement requirements are met
- free continuing education
