Mainz School of Music (HfM) is the only music university in Rhineland-Palatinate, offering broad-based artistic, artistic-pedagogical, and music theory education. The integration of artistic training into a university, the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, is unique in Germany.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching courses in all music theory disciplines
- Teaching, examining, and supervising in all degree courses at Mainz School of Music as well as in connection with HfM projects, including the organization of examinations and the preparation of examination papers
- Advice and support for students in academic and artistic matters
- Collaboration, administrative support, and participation in concerts as well as artistic, scientific, and pedagogical projects of the department and Mainz School of Music
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed university studies in music theory (diploma or master’s degree)
- Wide-ranging stylistic abilities, flexible approach to all styles from early music to contemporary music
- Special artistic, academic, and pedagogical aptitude
- Teaching experience at university level
- Experience in project management and the organization of examinations is desirable
- Very good knowledge of the study structure of a university of music, the examination regulations, and module handbooks in the field of music theory and related courses (e.g. orchestra, singing, piano, church music, as well as jazz and popular music) or willingness to familiarize
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and interdisciplinary work
- Very good knowledge of standard PC applications and other modern information and communication technologies as well as common music notation programs
- Good written and spoken German
- Post-graduation full-time work experience of at least 2.5 years
