Offer Description
The University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is seeking candidates for the position of
Professor (W2) of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Psychotherapy
for earliest possible appointment. We are looking for a person from the field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy who can develop and represent the full scope of research, teaching and psychotherapy practice in the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology and psychotherapy at the Institute of Psychology.
The future holder of the position will play a significant role in the teaching of classes belonging to the B.Sc. and M.Sc. psychology degree courses as well as the new degree course M.Sc. Psychology with a Focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy that complies with the Licensing Regulations for Psychotherapists (PsychThApprO) adopted by the Federal Council on 14 February 2020. Other tasks include managing the Centre for Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents (ZPKJ), a university outpatient clinic for teaching and research. In addition, participation in developing strategies for and implementing future further professional training courses to become a specialist psychologist is desired.
Applicants require a very good, internationally visible research profile in the field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy of children and adolescents, as well as proof that they are able to acquire competitive third-party funding. The research profile should be compatible with the main research areas of the Institute of Psychology, in particular the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy ( (de)). Applicants should also have experience in patient-centred teaching and comprehensive expertise in psychotherapeutic practice with children and adolescents. This experience should preferably be in outpatient and/or inpatient individual and group settings. The successful candidate must be willing to actively participate in academic self-administration committees. Experience abroad and a willingness to teach in English are desirable. The Institute attaches particular importance to open, transparent and replicable research (in accordance with the DGPs recommendations on Open Science).
The University of Greifswald supports and demands family-friendly leadership.
Applicants must fulfil the requirements for a university professor according to § 58(1) of the Landeshochschulgesetz – LHG M-V (State Higher Education Act): a university degree, teaching experience and a high level of scientific research, which is generally documented by an outstanding doctoral degree. Further academic achievements are expected. § 58(2) LHG M-V stipulates that these are usually proven by a junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent.
In addition, a licence to practise (or additional training to receive a licence to practise, with proof of completion of at least PT1) in child and adolescent psychotherapy or a licence to practise as a psychological psychotherapist with extended specialist knowledge for children and adolescents is required. In order to guarantee a diverse range of procedures, subject expertise is welcome in every area of specialisation, although the Institute gives preference to specialist expertise in depth psychology-based psychotherapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy or systematic therapy.
In accordance with § 61 LHG M-V, the appointed professor will be assigned the status of a civil servant (Beamtenverhältnis ) with unlimited tenure; alternatively, if the applicant is not permanently available: limited tenure as a civil servant or public service employee. As a general rule, permanent tenure as a civil servant (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit ) can only be awarded for the first time to persons who have not yet ended their 50th year of life when they enter employment.
This vacancy is open to all applicants, irrespective of gender. The University would like to increase the proportion of women in areas in which they are underrepresented and thus applications from women are particularly welcome and will be treated with priority if they have the same qualifications and as long as there are no clear reasons which make a fellow applicant more suitable. Women are specifically encouraged to apply for the position. Severely disabled applicants with the same professional and personal qualifications will be considered with preference.
Unfortunately, application costs (e.g. travel expenses for interviews) will not be reimbursed by the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
