Optical Design Researcher

A leading global technology innovator is seeking an Optical Design Researcher to join its advanced R&D team in Germany. This team is at the forefront of next-generation optical solutions, driving innovation across multiple industries, including high-speed communication, automotive technology, industrial metrology, and advanced display systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and design of optical systems in areas such as optical wireless communication, imaging lenses, projection systems, sensing technologies, and next-gen display solutions.
• Lead projects from initial requirement analysis through system design, simulation, proof-of-concept development, and prototyping.
• Identify critical technical challenges and drive innovative solutions that push the boundaries of current technology.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, track emerging technologies, and provide insights into future advancements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across different domains and leverage external partnerships to achieve strategic objectives.
• Publish and present research findings at leading conferences and in top-tier journals, while also building partnerships with key players in the field.

Qualifications & Skills

• PhD in Optics, Photonics, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience in designing and developing optical systems for wireless communication, imaging, projection, or sensing applications.
• Strong foundation in geometrical, diffractive, and/or physical optics.
• Proficiency in optical design and simulation tools such as Zemax, LightTools, CodeV, or VirtualLab . Experience with Python and/or MATLAB is a plus.
• Ability to identify and solve complex technical problems in a systematic, goal-oriented manner.
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) and a collaborative mindset for teamwork in an international setting.
