Overview
We are working with a leading deep-tech semiconductor company who are looking to hire a Senior Application Engineer with strong expertise in high-speed PCB design, FPGA development, and measurement automation.
This is a hands-on, lab-based position, not a customer-facing or pre-sales role, where you will be directly involved in developing, testing, and validating next-generation mixed-signal ICs, including advanced ADC/DAC data converters on cutting-edge process nodes.
The successful candidate will take ownership of PCB design for high-speed interfaces, FPGA logic development, Python-based automation scripts, and the creation of robust measurement processes that ensure repeatability and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Design and prototype high-speed, impedance-controlled PCBs for JESD and other high-speed digital interfaces.
- Develop and implement FPGA logic (VHDL/Verilog) for measurement, data acquisition, and control.
- Create Python-based automation scripts for instrument control and data analysis.
- Define and document measurement procedures for consistency and quality.
- Collaborate with hardware and IC design teams to validate performance and optimise workflows.
- Work on ADC/DAC data converter measurement for advanced process nodes (<22>
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, or related field.
- 4+ years’ experience in PCB design for high-speed interfaces (impedance control, signal integrity).
- Proficiency in Python for measurement automation.
- Experience in ADC/DAC or data converter testing is highly desirable.
- Proven measurement process experience with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Aachen, Germany.
What’s on offer
- Opportunity to work with a cutting-edge deep-tech semiconductor innovator.
- Involvement in projects shaping the next generation of mixed-signal ICs and wireless communication systems.
- Competitive salary and benefits.
- A streamlined recruitment process, from initial conversation to offer in 2–3 weeks.
