The Field Team Lead Rare Disease is responsible for developing and overseeing all field activities in the assigned markets. This position staffs and directs a team of field colleagues across Europe (Senior MSL & Key Account Manager Rare Disease) and provides leadership towards the achievement of qualitative and quantitative client brand plan tactics and objectives in close collaboration with other client roles. The role is expected to act as a role model in scientific knowledge, business acumen, and ethical behavior whilst continuously developing the team performance and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Coach, mentor, educate, and develop direct team members to enhance individual skills and elevate overall team performance.
  • Maintain required technical and scientific expertise of his/her direct reports to respond accurately to all questions regarding product and therapeutic area issues from customers.
  • Supports strategic plans in close collaboration with Country Management and Client to ensure seamless delivery of the agreed SOW.
  • Effectively plan and conduct regular business updates with members of the entire cross-functional team and upper management.
  • Coordinate in-field activities to achieve results as agreed upon KOL relationship & strategic plans.
  • Build trusted customer relationships with the team based on a substantiated understanding of the customers\‘ needs, high scientific disease knowledge, ethical and compliant behavior to establish clients\‘ leadership in the respective disease area. Maximize cross-functional collaboration to execute against the strategic imperatives whilst driving patient access to medicine.

  • Responsible for and oversee their respective department.
  • Supporting in the selection of new hires for their assigned teams and supervise the activities of the department staff; communicate, interpret, and discuss with team the company policies and procedures.
  • Determine job objectives, work methods, and performance standards; review performance relative to departmental objectives, discussion appraisal with each employee and performance; authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline and discharge, and administer all other personnel actions in accordance with EVERSANA policies and in collaboration with HR and direct management.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB :

  • Travel (70-80%)
  • Conduct regular co-visits: Each team member should be worked with on a quarterly basis.
  • Field Contact Reports should be completed within 48 hours of encounter.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required.

  • Education: Scientific Master Degree required.
  • Experience and/or Training: Significant track record in a medical or sales leadership role in biopharmaceuticals. Cross Europe preferred. Experience from relevant drug launch(es) in a highly specialized care setting and with evolving therapeutic standards.
  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driving license.
  • Technology/Equipment: Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Good understanding of CRM: including reporting creation and analysis (BI).
  • Extraordinary Communication Skills: Ability to convey messages in a structured and clear manner while remaining ready to listen and to ensure clear understanding as well as the capability to listen carefully to grant an understanding of their partners\‘ situation and needs.
  • Ability of collaborative and influential leadership: Ability to achieve buy-in from direct reports. Effective collaboration in a matrix structure.
  • Client Determination: Committed to a client-first approach while considering employee, HCP, and patient interests.
  • Accountability: Ability to make decisions within the set framework and accept full responsibility for their outcome.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to present in front of clients, HCPs, and employees in a crisp and on-the-point manner.
  • Language: German and English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Proven leadership experience in medical and/or commercial field teams.
  • Medical affairs in rare diseases preferred.
  • Collaboration in a matrix organization.
  • Business acumen in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Cross-European medical affairs knowledge, ideally in rare disease.
  • Additional European languages would be an advantage.
