Working Model: On-site with up to 1 day/week Home Office

We are currently supporting a high-tech technology company operating in the defence and security sector and are looking for a hands-on Network & IT Administrator (m/f/d) to join their growing internal IT & Infrastructure team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who enjoys taking ownership of Linux systems, networks, IT security and infrastructure operations in a technically sophisticated environment.
- Ensure the reliable operation, monitoring and continuous development of the company's IT infrastructure
- Administer and secure LAN/WAN networks, VPN interfaces and firewalls
- Manage and maintain Linux server environments, including users, permissions and security settings
- Plan and execute system installations, updates, rollouts and backups
- Troubleshoot technical incidents and provide structured support to internal users
- Maintain documentation, system configurations and operational procedures
- Support infrastructure scaling as the company continues to grow
- Prepare hardware/software for new employees
- Support occasional customer-site installations and maintenance activities
What We're Looking For
- 3–5+ years of professional experience in Linux system and network administration
- Strong hands‑on experience with Linux servers – Linux expertise is essential
- Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls and network administration
- Strong understanding of IT security, encryption and certificates
- Experience with backup and patch management is advantageous
- Structured and analytical approach to troubleshooting
- Good scripting/automation skills with Shell, Python or similar are a plus
- Native-level German and English at B2 level or higher
- Willingness to work predominantly on-site in Salem or relocate/commute to the area
- Ability to obtain the required security clearance for the position
- Completed IT apprenticeship, degree in IT/computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
