Senior Data Engineer – Financial Data Platforms

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain data ingestion pipelines using
  XML, Hive/S3
  , and
  IBM MQ
  .
• Build and support schemaless data ingestion workflows for complex financial datasets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data quality and pipeline issues to ensure reliable business operations.
• Collaborate with business teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Implement metadata management and maintain data classification and sensitivity standards.
• Apply data modeling standards and leverage tools for data cleansing and metadata management.
• Support and optimize data processing in Big Data environments using
  Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Trino, Airflow/NiFi, MinIO, Kubernetes, and Kafka
  .
• Ensure compliance with banking data regulations and internal security policies.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Hands-on experience with
  Big Data technologies
  and open-source components (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Trino, Airflow/NiFi, MinIO, K8S, Kafka).
• Expert-level SQL skills across both traditional data warehouses and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of
  financial/banking data products
  , data classification, and sensitivity.
• Strong knowledge of
  metadata management
  , data modeling, and data governance best practices.
• Proven experience working in cross-divisional teams between IT and business.
• Familiarity with Agile project management practices.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and resolve unexpected roadblocks.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications or formal training in Big Data, SQL, or Data Engineering tools.
• Previous experience in a financial services or banking environment.
