Technical Specialist, ‘Flying Doctor’ (Automotive – Chinese Brand)
An innovative Chinese automotive brand is looking for a Technical Specialist for their Austrian network. You will be serving as the ultimate technical authority and the vital link between our authorized dealer/service network and the manufacturer’s headquarters (R&D/Engineering in China).
You have a strong focus on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including Hybrid (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). You will work closely with dealership technicians to ensure that our service network possesses the highest technical competence and safety certification.
You’ll be doing that by providing high‑level diagnostic support, conducting advanced technical training sessions, and documenting field quality data for the engineering team.
Responsibilities
Manage high‑level technical support and 2nd/3rd‑level diagnostics via hotlines, ticketing systems, or on‑site "Flying Doctor" visits.
Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high‑voltage battery diagnostics, electric drivetrains, hybrid power management, and advanced driver‑assistance systems (ADAS).
Provide data‑driven insights on product defects and escalated recurring quality issues directly to the manufacturer's quality and engineering teams in China.
Manage and conduct advanced technical training sessions for dealer technicians regarding new technologies and strict high‑voltage safety protocols.
Maintain an understanding of proprietary diagnostic software and hardware to ensure the dealer network is properly equipped.
Provide technical preparation and homologation support for new model launches, including reviewing German‑language technical documentation.
Requirements
Based in Austria with a willingness to travel within the country for on‑site dealership support.
5+ years of experience as a Senior Diagnostic Technician, Master Technician, or Technical Trainer within the automotive industry (Importer or OEM experience is a major plus).
Certified Automotive Master Craftsman (Kfz‑Meister), or a degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent high‑level technical automotive education.
Mandatory High‑Voltage Qualification: Documented certification according to Austrian standards (OVE Richtlinie R 19 / OVE‑Richtlinie R 19-1), holding at least HV‑Stufe 2 (HV‑Fachkundiger). HV‑Stufe 3 is highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in advanced troubleshooting with modern automotive oscilloscopes, telemetry, and proprietary diagnostic software.
Deep understanding of hybrid and electric vehicle architecture, battery management systems (BMS), and vehicle bus systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
Superb communicator: business fluent in German (for dealer network support) and excellent business English (essential for daily communication and technical reporting to China).
Culturally open‑minded with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across different cultures.
