Job Description
We are currently partnered with a leading global engineering and consulting firm to support their search for a Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth within their rail division in Germany.
As a key member of the commercial team, you will play a critical role in developing new customer relationships, expanding project pipelines, and identifying market opportunities within the rail industry—including rolling stock, signalling, systems engineering, and infrastructure services.
🔍 Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and public sector operators in the rail industry.
- Lead the end-to-end business development process, from prospecting and proposal development to contract negotiation.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships within the rail industry by understanding technical requirements and aligning solutions.
- Collaborate closely with technical and delivery teams to ensure feasibility, pricing accuracy, and successful execution.
- Monitor rail market trends, tender opportunities, and competitive intelligence to strategically position service offerings.
- Represent the business at rail industry events, trade shows, and client meetings across Germany and occasionally internationally.
🧠 Requirements:
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or key account management within the railway or mobility engineering sector.
- Strong network within Germany’s rail ecosystem (e.g. OEMs, system integrators, operators, public authorities).
- Demonstrated “hunter” mentality—entrepreneurial, proactive, and confident in opening new doors and generating leads.
- Technical acumen with the ability to collaborate with engineering and project teams.
- Fluent in German and English (written and spoken); other languages a plus.
