Our client is a global semiconductor manufacturer with an established international footprint and a strong technology-driven product portfolio.
The business is seeking an experienced Global Sourcing Director – Foundry to lead its global strategy and relationships with external semiconductor manufacturing partners.
This is a senior strategic position responsible for managing the company's external wafer manufacturing ecosystem, ensuring access to the required technology, capacity and commercial structures to support both current production and future growth.
The Role
The Global Sourcing Director will own the company's global foundry strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders across technology, engineering, operations, supply chain, product management and finance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute the global foundry sourcing strategy in line with business, technology and product requirements.
- Own strategic relationships with external semiconductor foundries and wafer manufacturing partners globally.
- Lead negotiations around wafer capacity, pricing, supply agreements, technology nodes and long-term manufacturing commitments.
- Secure appropriate wafer capacity to support both current demand and future product requirements.
- Develop long-term strategic partnerships with key foundry suppliers.
- Monitor the global foundry landscape, including technology roadmaps, capacity availability, investment plans and market developments.
- Evaluate and develop new foundry partnerships where required.
- Lead strategic supplier selection and qualification activities for new technologies and manufacturing requirements.
- Work closely with semiconductor engineering and technology teams to align foundry capabilities with future product roadmaps.
- Develop strategies to manage capacity constraints, supply continuity and geopolitical / geographic risk.
- Establish appropriate commercial and contractual frameworks with strategic foundry partners.
- Drive cost competitiveness while balancing capacity, technology, quality, lead times and supply security.
- Lead executive-level supplier reviews and negotiations.
- Provide senior leadership with market intelligence and recommendations regarding the company's external manufacturing footprint.
- Lead and develop the global sourcing organisation supporting foundry activities.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have significant experience within the semiconductor industry, with direct responsibility for foundry sourcing, external wafer manufacturing or strategic foundry management.
Relevant experience may come from a semiconductor manufacturer, fabless semiconductor business or another organisation with significant reliance on external wafer fabrication.
You are likely to bring:
- Significant senior-level experience in semiconductor sourcing, supply chain, operations or manufacturing.
- Strong, demonstrable experience managing foundry relationships and outsourced wafer manufacturing.
- A strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, technology nodes and wafer fabrication.
- Experience negotiating complex, long-term agreements with semiconductor foundries.
- Understanding of wafer capacity planning, allocation and strategic capacity commitments.
- Experience working with global foundry partners and navigating international supply markets.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor technology roadmaps and their implications for sourcing and capacity.
- Commercially strong, with the ability to lead high-value negotiations at executive level.
- Experience managing supply risk, capacity constraints and strategic supplier dependencies.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills, particularly working with engineering, technology, operations and senior management.
- International experience and the ability to operate effectively across a global organisation.
