The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for the end-to-end accounting and financial closing activities of one or more German legal entities within the Shared Service Center.
This position is designed for a highly capable accounting professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a broader business mindset. The role requires a hands-on approach and ownership mentality, balancing detailed day-to-day accounting responsibilities with a focus on financial statement quality, process improvement, internal controls, and business support.
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for a traditional accountant who focuses solely on transaction processing.
We are looking for an experienced and ambitious accounting professional who:
- Is a qualified Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) or possesses an equivalent accounting qualification.
- Has a deep understanding of German GAAP (HGB) and statutory accounting requirements.
- Is capable of independently managing the entire accounting cycle and preparing high-quality financial statements.
- Understands the wider business implications behind accounting figures and can act as a trusted finance business partner.
- Has the ability and ambition to take on leadership responsibilities in the future.
- Is willing to remain hands-on and actively involved in daily accounting activities when required.
- Drives continuous improvement, standardisation, and efficiency within the accounting processes.
- Is not afraid to challenge existing processes and identify better ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
In addition to the operational accounting responsibilities described in the role profile, the successful candidate will:
- Assume ownership of the overall financial integrity of the assigned legal entities.
- Serve as a senior accounting expert and trusted sparring partner for management, Controlling, Group Finance and the Shared Service Center leadership.
- Drive improvements in accounting quality, financial controls and closing processes.
- Support finance transformation initiatives, ERP optimisation projects and process standardisation efforts.
- Coach and guide less experienced team members where appropriate.
- Gradually take on broader coordination and leadership responsibilities within the accounting organisation.
- Build the foundation for a future leadership role within the Shared Service Center.
