The Opportunity This internship offers the chance to contribute directly to Roche’s 10-year ambitions by improving sustainability at our instrument production site in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. The goal of the project is to reduce the environmental impact of spare part logistics through substituting plastic foams that are currently used in the packaging with sustainable alternatives: – Contribute to Roche’s sustainability goals by tackling our Scope 3 emissions related to spare part packaging – Research and assess alternative packaging solutions focusing on protection effectiveness, environmental impact, and costs – Gain hands-on experience by working with suppliers, hardware development engineers and production teams – Collaborate with the production engineering department to design a plan for implementing and testing the new packaging solutions – Present a comprehensive business case to showcase the benefits of the proposed solutions – Be guided by mentors, gaining insights into sustainability practices and innovative packaging technologies Who You Are You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor’s / Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of Packaging Engineering, Materials Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, Industrial Ecology within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months and getting to know the medical diagnostics industry. Furthermore you are – knowledgeable in sustainable materials and carbon footprint reduction initiatives – familiar with the basics of protective packaging requirements – collaborative, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally – curious and innovative, with a keen interest in researching and implementing cutting-edge solutions – conversant in German to at least B2 level (preferred) Join a team dedicated to fostering change and driving the future of Roche Diagnostics.
