At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters. The Position
This role is based in the Innovation Accelerator (IA) team, the innovation engine and connective tissue for Design, Data and Data Science innovation strategy within Product Development Data Sciences (PDD). We translate our long‑term PDD vision into actionable strategy, shaping and prioritizing innovative cross‑functional use cases that span PDD, PD, and Pharma. As both integrators and incubators, we explore, prototype, and help productize solutions to deliver impact in close partnership with internal Roche teams and external collaborators. With a mindset rooted in openness, value creation, and adaptability, we navigate the innovation ecosystem to drive transformative impact and future readiness across the organization. The Opportunity
You design and implement robust, secure, and scalable software architectures that support data‑ and ML‑driven products. You build front‑end interfaces using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Vue) to enable intuitive user interactions with complex data outputs. You develop and maintain back‑end APIs and data pipelines that integrate models and data into production‑grade environments. You write simple, elegant, well‑structured, and well‑tested applications, software, and/or code that drive new features and improvements across all our products and services in adherence with regulatory compliance. You collaborate with UX designers, data scientists, and product managers to align on user needs and translate them into technical solutions. You monitor and optimise the performance, reliability, and maintainability of deployed software systems. You enable reproducibility and development efficiency by implementing standardized logging, version control, and configuration management, while contributing to internal knowledge sharing and reusable code libraries. You partner with IT teams to manage CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and security protocols. You participate in agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and contribute to backlog refinement and prioritization. You apply a product‑thinking mindset to balance technical trade‑offs with user impact and business value. You develop tools and dashboards for monitoring data flows, system health, and model performance. You keep up to date with emerging technologies in software, cloud, and data engineering to continuously improve practices. You support early pilots, MVPs, and scaled implementations across therapeutic areas by ensuring smooth deployment of experiments and applications in cloud and custom PaaS environments. You embrace a collaborative culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and feedback. Who you are
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field. You have a minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, including leading architecture or infrastructure efforts for data‑centric or ML‑powered applications; or an advanced degree with 6 years of equivalent work experience. You have 4+ years of experience with relational and non‑relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redshift, MongoDB, S3). You have 4+ years of experience building and optimizing data pipelines using tools such as DVC, Pandas, Airflow. You have strong proficiency in front‑end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and back‑end API development. You have hands‑on experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform). You have strong experience managing CI/CD workflows, version control, and security protocols in production environments. You have proven ability to lead technically complex initiatives and balance long‑term architecture with near‑term delivery. You have capacity for independent thinking and ability to make decisions based upon sound principles. You exhibit excellent strategic agility including problem‑solving and critical thinking skills, and agility that extends beyond technical domain. You demonstrate respect for cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace. You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in the areas of presentation and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear language. Preferred
Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated industries. Deep familiarity with cloud‑native development using AWS. Knowledge of privacy and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, GxP). Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Exposure to data visualization tools such as Dash, Streamlit, or Power BI. Understanding of the clinical development lifecycle and scientific workflows. Demonstrated mentoring and technical leadership within agile teams. High degree of strategic agility and problem‑solving; capable of navigating complexity with precision. Relocation benefits are not available for this posting. Roche is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are proud of who we are, what we do, and how we do it. We are many, working as one across functions, across companies, and across the world.
